Case Study - Interactive Art & Installation Design

OBJECTIVES
1	To expose students to the commercial & cultural implications of Interactive Installation.
2	To foster awareness of the development of Interactive Art/ Installation.
3	To enable students to engage in research and enhance their critical analytical skills.
4	To develop independent and critical thinking in their own pursue of project direction & in self-assessment.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Study an (interactive) installation artist/ designer whose works are inspiring to you. Your study must include:
1	A short biography Piano Stairs     The original Piano Stairs project was one of a series of commercials commissioned by Volkswagen as social experiments.  These “experiments” aimed to redesign everyday objects in such a way that people were encouraged to change their behaviour for the better. piano stairs ,its made by electeronic piano. Most of people prefer to use the piano stairs rather than elevator stairs. It’s just about making stairs fun! So people chose the stairs instead of the escalator, just about making people exercise, if only a little and also have the time with music .Its used humor and fun to the work mix.  Simply this machine change people’s behaviors and give them some free fun. Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator on a normal day in Stockholm, by making it more fun to take the stairs?

3	Proposition; issue/s in his/ her concern or what inform the artist's works. it’s so easy to motivate people to walk and also its Brilliant idea and a great way to promote healthy lifestyle Few people actually follow that advice. Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator by making it fun to do? something as simple as fun is the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better. Be it for yourself, for the environment, or for something entirely different, the only thing that matters is that it’s change for the better.

Research on 1 installation art pieces/ projects and 1 (media-based) interactive installation pieces/ projects of whom you find interesting. Your findings must include: All people with different races finding piano stairs interesting, except disable people who can’t walk and used piano stairs. Or those how finding nosy or annoying. people with the different background shows the different reaction, Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator and feel better” is something we often hear or read in the Sunday papers. Few people actually follow that advice. Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator by making it fun to do

	motivate people to walk and a great way to promote healthy lifestyle , maybe someone ask why don’t they just turn off the escalator if they concern about people health? the answer is if they turn it off the escalator then what about the old people who can’t walk up the stairs. This is creative idea at this time maybe help or encourage  people to walk out and have some exercise

	people interact with this  idea and they like to explore and find new experience and they don’t like to use escalators and they have Cruisity to find new experience ,The creators made each step play a different note on a piano so that when people walk up or down they go from the high end of the keyboard to the lower octaves Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator by making it fun to do
4	Analysis of the interactivity in the work (function/s).
	is connect the wire with the piano and in that way each wire have own function and So many wire used to connect the wires and electronic piano. each stairs have the different sound and when someone walking on the stairs heard the sound from gadget Based on the internet novel of the same title and written by Guiyeoni, Do Re Mi Fa So La Si Do ,    The camera capturing people showed a 66% increase in people using the stairs once they were made a bit more fun
5	Materials/ technology/ equipment/ gadget/ system
	wire connected with the piano and in that way each wire have own function and many wire and tube they used to connect the wire with the electronic piano. and sensor and speaker , the staircase has been retrofitted to resemble giant piano keys, which produce real sound, each stairs have the different sound  So many wire connect the electronic piano and sensor . These keys are made of foam and would be simply adhered to the top of each step. When stepped upon, each key forces air through a reed, much like a mouth organ, with a similar sound produced.
6	A personal comment Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator and feel better This is amazing, incorporating art into our daily lives should be a priority now. Especially during hard time that you engage with your daily life and Hopefully someone doesn’t get so into it they fall down the stairs trying to play Bethoven’s Fifth , The idea is nice if a few people with musical training are going through the station. I think it would be annoying during rush hour, and who needs more tension from unpleasant noise during a stressful travel? Although I am sure it would work the first few times people saw the piano stairs and after a couple of days people would get board and go back to their lazy usual ways.
